Des nuages associés aux bandes externes de la forte tempête tropicale traversent l’île à présent avec des averses modérées à fortes.  Le temps devrait se détériorer rapidement demain matin avec des averses éparses et orageuses. Les fortes averses pourraient occasionner des inondations dans les endroits habituels.

Le vent sera d’est-sud-est à une vitesse d’environ 30 km/h avec des rafales atteignant 80 km/h, se renforçant davantage demain matin.

La mer deviendra graduellement très forte à grosse avec des houles au-delà des récifs et des vagues de 6 à 8 mètres. La marée de tempête pourrait occasionner des inondations côtières en basse altitude au nord, à l’est et au sud. Les sorties en mer sont déconseillées.

At 2200 hours, severe tropical storm Eleanor was centered at about 350 km to the north-northeast of Mauritius near latitude 17.6 degrees south and longitude 59.8 degrees east. Eleanor is moving in a south-southwest direction at an accelerated speed of about 25 km/h.

On this trajectory, severe tropical storm Eleanor continues to approach Mauritius and represents a potential threat to the Island.

A cyclone warning class II is in force in Mauritius.
The public in Mauritius is advised to take preliminary precautions.

Clouds associated with the outer bands of the severe tropical storm Eleanor are crossing the Island with showers, moderate to heavy at times. The weather is expected to deteriorate rapidly with widespread heavy thundery showers tomorrow morning. The heavy showers are likely to cause flooding in the usual places.

Wind will blow from the east-southeast at a speed of about 30 km/h with gusts reaching 80 km/h, strengthening further tomorrow morning.

Sea will become very rough to high with swells beyond the reefs and wave height will be of the order of 6 to 8 metres. Storm surge is likely to cause coastal inundation in the northern, eastern and southern low-lying areas. The public is advised not to venture at sea.
