The Consumer Price Index, which stood at 103.8 in April 2018, registered a net decrease of 1.0 point (or 1.0%) to reach 102.8 in June 2018. The main reasons for the net decrease in the CPI from April to June 2018 were:
lower prices of vegetables (-1.7 points), cooking gas (-0.1 point) and mobile phones (-0.1 point); and
lower interest rates on housing loan (-0.1 point);
partly offset by
higher prices of fruits (+0.1 point), fish (+0.1 point), other food products (+0.2 point), gasolene (+0.4 point), air tickets (+0.1 point) and other goods and services (+0.1 point).
The headline inflation rate for the twelve months ending June 2018 works out to 4.3%, compared to 2.4% for the twelve months ending June 2017.
he headline inflation rate excluding “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” for the twelve months ending June 2018 works out to 3.5% compared to 1.2% for the twelve months ending June 2017.
