Renewal of MoU between University of Mauritius and Edith Cowan University of Western Australia

I7a significant occasion set to bolster international educational cooperation, the University of Mauritius (UoM) and Edith Cowan University (ECU) of Australia are proud to announce the signing and renewal of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing ceremony was held on Monday, October 2, 2023, bringing together prominent figures from both institutions.

At this event, Professor Sanjeev Kumar Sobhee, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mauritius, was joined by Professor Steve Chapman, Vice Chancellor of Edith Cowan University, along with a distinguished delegation representing eight schools of ECU. This gathering marked the initiation of discussions regarding potential collaborations and the reaffirmation of their commitment to a fruitful partnership.

Australia’s Chargé d’Affaires to Mauritius, Ms Katie Lalor said: “We are delighted to have such a high-level delegation visit from Edith Cowan University. Education is a key part of Australia Mauritius relations and this visit, including the signing of an MOU with the University of Mauritius, marks another important milestone in our two countries relations.”

Partnership Development
The foundation of this partnership was laid in 2017 during a visit by ECU to the University of Mauritius. Since then, both institutions have fostered a thriving relationship. The visit by ECU’s delegation to UoM aims to reinvigorate this partnership and explore new avenues for collaboration. The University of Mauritius, being part of the Australia Africa Universities Network, plays a crucial role in engaging Australian universities in sub-Saharan Africa, facilitating the exchange of expertise in areas of mutual interest to Australia and Africa.
