Use of Domestic LPG Cylinders

The Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection strongly advises food vendors and Traders against illegal use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes.

Following discussions with importers and distributors, the Ministry confirms that there is no shortage of commercial LPG cylinders or valves in the market.

The Consumer Protection (Use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas in Small Cylinders) Regulations 2012 mandates specific cylinders for commercial use. Non-compliance can lead to fines up to 100,000 rupees, a prison term of up to 3 years, or a Fixed Penalty of 5,000 rupees.
