Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius s’engage dans la sensibilisation contre la drogue

Version anglaise / English Version

“Pro Tomorrow is an action that requires the participation of customers and staff, more specifically the one responsible for cleaning the rooms. The aim of the concept is to clean and maintain the customer’s room every other day during their stay at Maritim. When a hotel room is not cleaned, energy is saved, particularly in terms of electricity, water, etc. We have 272 rooms. In the end, we work out the figures and set aside the money to be distributed to the NGO CUT, which we have decided to support,” explains Raj Rajkoomar. “Every customer is consulted before we apply this concept. The customer’s endorsement is very important, because he pays for his stay and the services that go with it. But given the nature of the cause, which is unfortunately a worldwide problem, our customers understand our approach perfectly and participate fully in it. If, during the days when their room is exempt from cleaning, there is a need for an intervention, the staff will of course respond favourably to the maintenance. Since we introduced the concept, it has met with a positive response from Maritim’s guest.

Raj Rajkoomar added

“Raising awareness is an intrinsic part of the fight against drugs. Our participation as a hotel is important because, like all Mauritians, we dream of a drug-free island. But this is utopian. What is not utopian, however, is the desire to believe that all of us – economic players, civil society, the authorities – can join forces to limit the progress of this scourge. As a hotel, we are also a stop over for many nationalities. From this point of view, our action is not in vain, as it can reach more people beyond our borders to inform them of the harmful effects of drugs. The world is a global village!”
