
At 13h00, on the 8th December 2024, the tropical depression evolving to the south west of Diego Garcia was centered near 11.5 degrees South and 68.2 degrees East and is moving towards the west at a mean speed of about 25 km/h.
The environment in which it is evolving is favourable for further intensification. In the event when it reaches a Moderate Tropical Storm intensity, then the Mauritius Meteorological Services will name it “CHIDO”.
If the westerly trajectory is maintained then there is a likelihood that it will influence the local weather over Agalega and St Brandon by Tuesday 10 December 2024.

It is to be noted that the uncertainly in the models increases beyond three days.
Agalega
Weather will deteriorate as from Tuesday 10 December. Moderate to heavy showers at times together with thunderstorm are expected.
Wind will strengthen gradually becoming gusty at in showers.
Sea will become gradually be rough and very rough with swells next week.
St-Brandon
Showery and gusty weather with thunderstorms will prevail as from Tuesday 10 December 2024.
Sea will become rough to very rough with swells.
