Dans son rapport intitulé « State of the Economy. », le Premier ministre, le Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, avait exprimé ses vives préoccupations concernant le montant considérable, s’élevant à plusieurs millions de roupies, dépensé par la police pour rémunérer des avocats privés.
Henceforth, parastatal organizations, like ministries, must consult the State Law Office for all legal matters; the Attorney General, Gavin Glover, has abolished the previous practice of using private lawyers.
This follows Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam’s concerns, expressed in his « State of the Economy » report, regarding the millions of rupees spent on private lawyers by the police.
