National Science Week 2025

The week is dedicated the promotion of STEM in all the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions

The Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre (RGSC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research is organising the National Science Week 2025 (NSW 2025) from 25 to 28 March 2025 at the Cote D’Or National Sports Complex focusing on the above theme. The event is open to the public and entrance is be free.

The aims and objectives of the National Science Week are to:
a) Communicate science and technology in the community
b) Promote public understanding of science issues and reveal the practical importance of Science and Technology in various sectors of the Mauritian economy.
c) Encourage the youth to embark into science-oriented careers
d) Prepare Mauritius to face future scientific and Technological challenges

3. The event will constitute of two main components:
3.1 An exhibition on Science and Technology (List of Exhibitors is annexed)
(i) Various stakeholders from Ministries and parastatal bodies and the private sector will be displaying to the public their work in relation to Science and Technology.
(ii) Tertiary Educational Institutions (both public and private) will be a strong component. They will be displaying all STEM related fields of study offered by the institutions and the career opportunities in STEM related subjects. The TEIs present include University of Mauritius, University of Technology Mauritius, Open University of Mauritius, Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd, and the Mauritius Institute of Education.
(iii) Activities by RGSC
As the organizer and main coordinator of the National Science Week event, The RGSC will also showcase a series of interactive exhibits and hold science demonstrations during the week.

3.2 Parallel thematic events
A series of thematic talks on Science and Technology scheduled during the whole week.

To give the National Science Week 2025 a national dimension, the week from 24 to 28 March 2025 is dedicated the promotion of STEM in all the primary, secondary and tertiary institutions of the country. Primary, Secondary and tertiary institutions have been encouraged to dedicate the week of 24-28 March 2025 to the promotion of Science, Technology and Engineering and Mathematics among students. Schools are encouraged to organise activities at the school or community level including science fairs, field trips, quiz workshops, talks, etc.

This will involve the whole school community, whereby all the students, teaching and non-teaching staff will put their heads and minds together to conduct activities related to STEM.

Tertiary Institutions are encouraged to organise activities like Laboratory Tours and Demonstrations, seminars, career guidance talks, etc.
