Selon le ministre de l’Environnement, Rajesh Anand Bhagwan, la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) est un partenaire important qui soutient depuis des années la transition de Maurice vers une économie plus verte et durable.
Il a souligné, lors d’une rencontre avec la directrice générale adjointe de la BAD pour l’Afrique australe, Moono Mupotola, les discussions sur le changement climatique et le renforcement des capacités, saluant le soutien continu de la BAD face aux défis mondiaux et exprimant son espoir de collaboration future.
Mme Mupotola a rappelé la vulnérabilité de Maurice, en tant qu’économie océanique, face au changement climatique, insistant sur la nécessité de projets intégrant cet aspect, tel que le projet portuaire. La BAD continuera son assistance par le renforcement des capacités pour consolider la stratégie d’atténuation et d’adaptation du pays, et renforcera sa collaboration dans l’investissement privé et l’agriculture.
According to Environment Minister Rajesh Anand Bhagwan, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has been a vital partner in Mauritius’s transition to a greener, more sustainable economy.
During a meeting with Moono Mupotola, AfDB Deputy Director General for Southern Africa, Bhagwan highlighted discussions on climate change and capacity building, acknowledging the AfDB’s ongoing support and expressing optimism for future collaboration.
Mupotola acknowledged Mauritius’s vulnerability to climate change as an ocean economy, emphasizing the need for climate-conscious projects like the port project. The AfDB will continue supporting Mauritius through capacity building to strengthen its mitigation and adaptation strategies and will enhance collaboration in private investment and agriculture.
