La gouvernement va promulger la Forests and Reserves (Protection of Protected Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 qui va interdire la commercialisation internationale de Maurice de ce bois bien recherché.
Cabinet has agreed to the promulgation of the Forests and Reserves (Protection of Protected Plants) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 which would provide for the introduction of a ban on the export of sandalwood for a period of 10 years.
With a view to addressing the issue of theft and overexploitation of sandalwood, the cutting, felling and exploitation of sandalwood would not be authorised in order to allow the species to regenerate and its export would also be banned for a period of 10 years.
Le Cabinet a approuvé la promulgation des Règlements de 2025 modifiant les Règlements sur les Forêts et les Réserves (Protection des Plantes Protégées), qui prévoiraient l’instauration d’une interdiction d’exportation du bois de santal pour une période de 10 ans.
Afin de résoudre le problème du vol et de la surexploitation du bois de santal, la coupe, l’abattage et l’exploitation du bois de santal ne seraient pas autorisés afin de permettre à l’espèce de se régénérer, et son exportation serait également interdite pour une période de 10 ans.
