Regional Field Training Exercise

Du 25 au 29 septembre 2023, le ministère des Affaires Étrangères et la Commission de l’Océan Indien organise un exercice sur le terrain afin de former les officiers pour combattre la pollution marine.

Cabinet has agreed to the holding of a Regional Field Training Exercise from 25 to 29 September 2023 in the context of the operationalisation of a regional mechanism to fight marine pollution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade is collaborating with the Indian Ocean Commission Secretariat to develop that regional mechanism.

The Field Training Exercise would help in the formulation and establishment of a regional mechanism to ensure better preparedness for and response to marine pollution including the formulation of tasks for the regional coordination centres.

Participants from relevant authorities from Comoros, Djibouti, France/Réunion, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Yemen, and partner countries such as Australia, India, Italy, Japan, the United States of America would attend the Field Training Exercise. In addition, representatives of the European Union, the European Union Naval Force as well as regional and international institutions including the Indian Ocean Rim Association, the International Maritime Organization, the Djibouti Code of Conduct Secretariat and the Nairobi Convention Secretariat, the South African Maritime Safety Agency, the Information Fusion Centre of India, the Regional Maritime Information Fusion Centre, among others would participate in the Field Training Exercise.
