Change in Mode of Transport

Change in Mode of Transport: We were informed upon arrival by Mr V…. that one catamaran was out of service, and we were offered a speedboat instead and we would have to go to Perebeye beach to take it.

Conflicting information regarding the number of operational catamarans was provided (either 4 with 1 out of order or 3 with 1 not functioning).

We suspect this was an outright lie as Firsta initially told us in writing that they operate « E… L… » and « T…. ».

We were also told other people took up the option to use a speed boat. The speed boat will have to be taken to Perebye Beach, and Vikash will provide the transport.

We were told on repeated occasions and assured multiple times by Mr V…. that we would be served lunch on a catamaran once we reached Ile Plate.

We agreed to the speedboat on this condition…

Complaint 1: Our expectation was a catamaran experience, not a speedboat.

Complaint 2: Vikash’s handling of the situation lacked apology and told us he was offering a speedboat as a favour rather than meeting the promised service standards.

Transport Issues

Transportation Issues: Transportation to Perebeye was divided into a car and a minivan, the latter being unsatisfactory.

The minivan was crowded, unclean, and occupied by various equipment and kitchen utensils, affecting our comfort.

Complaint 3: The conditions of the minivan did not meet basic hygiene standards, leading to great discomfort among the passengers.

Complaint 4: Inadequate provision of refreshments

3 bottles of beer and three 1.5 L soft drinks and two bottles of water for a group of 18 people. No cups were provided either at that time.

Also, no help was given to transport the cooler from the minivan to the speedboat. The cooler had no handles, and it was struggled to drag it to the speedboat.

Lunch Arrangement

Lunch Arrangement and Hospitality: Upon reaching Île Plate for lunch. Our speed boat transferred us on the K…. C…. catamaran.

Again we were told that the food was offered as a favour to us.

We were unwelcome and were informed that having our meal on the catamaran was not possible, contrary to the pre-agreed arrangement. We barely stayed on the catamaran for 10 minutes and moved again to the speedboat.

We were told that no food would be served if we continued when we complained about the agreement regarding the meal not being honoured.

Complaint 5: Unwelcoming reception, refusal to accommodate our lunch on the catamaran, and a lack of warmth in hospitality disrupted our planned experience.

Complaint 6: Insufficient crockery and cups provided for the group, further detracting from the intended experience.

Isolation

Observation of Isolation: Our group was the only one observed using a speedboat, while others appeared to be on catamarans, creating a sense of isolation and discomfort among us.

It appeared that only our group was singled out not to be on the catamaran from the start.

The two Catamarans of F…. « E…. …s » and « T…… » were present at Ile Plate.

Complaint 7: Feeling conspicuous and isolated compared to other groups diminished our enjoyment and further highlighted the deviation from the promised service.

In conclusion, the lack of professionalism and deviation from advertised services during the excursion on 9th December 2023 with Catamaran F…. M….., resulted in a disappointing and unsatisfactory experience.

False advertising and inadequate service delivery were evident throughout the trip, significantly impacting our enjoyment and satisfaction.

Dans un courrier à la Tourism Authority, le résident de Coventry a dénoncé la pratique douteuse des employés de la conduite compagnie qui a eu lieu à Grand-Baie et au large de Maurice le 9 décembre 2023.
